CRAFTING

Crafting has a different meaning to different people.  Some like to create a project from scratch and other's like to finish something that was originally started by someone else.  In my younger years, I loved to do needle point.  I would buy a kit that would include an outlined picture and the embroidery thread and sit each evening and embroidery.  These were projects that would take me sometimes weeks to complete.  But, the completed project would be placed in a frame and given to someone special as a gift.

My friends and family seemed to treasure something more as a gift, if I had made it myself.  Now, my idea of crafting involves making doll clothes for American Girl 18 inch Dolls.  My store, "Nancy's Doll Closet" offers handcrafted and manufactured clothing items for American Girl Dolls.  I spend a lot of time designing the dresses I make.  Starting with an idea, I then draw the pattern pieces, or alter another pattern piece, then I have to cut the pieces out of my fabric and complete it by sewing it together.  I do not use material scraps and just throw something together like other sellers do.  When I get an idea for a project, I buy the material to suit it.
