"FEATHER BOAS"

Feather boas have been documented for use as an adornment since around 1820, but they might have been worn as early as the 17th century. Feather boas have had a reputation of being elegant and campy. Boas fall in and out of fashion. Some historic eras where the boas were trendy were the late Victorian era, Edwardian era, the 1920’s, the 1970’s during the glam rock, the disco music eras, the late 1990’s into the early 21st century. They are often worn as a costume accessory for parties around the holiday seasons of Halloween, or Mardi Gras in New Orleans. A boa can be made of fur, but is usually made from various types of feathers, such as, ostrich, marabou, chandelle, and turkey.

Today, little girls love playing dress up with boas. They are soft and fluffy. Since girls love feather boas, they would love dressing up their American Girl dolls in pretend play. Today, I have listed four different colors of boas in my store, "Nancy's Doll Closet", for American Girl 18 inch dolls. They are made from Marabou down, which is a fine down that is very thin, and very fluffy.
